In January 2012 thirty years passed since the arrival of the first tractor-sledge train to Yamburg. That event marked the beginning of the commercial development of the Yamburgskoye oil, gas and condensate field of Gazprom dobycha Yamburg.

The transport column of 39 units of self-propelled vehicles was formed by the ordinance of Nadymgazprom association and left the Medvezhye field on January 18, 1982. Nobody doubted in the success of the expedition. The pathfinders inspired by slogan «Give, Yamburg! » covered a route 300 km in length.

The head of the expedition was appointed Grigoryi Zatsenko, chief of Nadymgazprom production dispatcher service, Stanislav Suptelya who was in charged of vehicle maintenance, Anatolyi Bogdanov, head of topographic division, was the guide. The working base staff of the expedition was made of experienced drivers and machinery operators: Alexander Shvets, Adam Philimonchuk, Sergey Berchenko, Nikolay Philonenko, Alexander Shilov.

On the night of January 23, 1982 the column set off toward Yamburg. In several years - on September 22, 1986 – first commercial gas was shipped from the field.

The Yamburgskoye oil, gas and condensate field was discovered in 1969. It ranks the fifth in the world in terms of original proved gas in place – 6,9 trln m3.

The field is divided into three areas. In the central part there is the largest Yamburgskaya area, southward – Kharvutinskaya, to the north – Aneryakhinskaya. 10 comprehensive gas treatment units, 4 gas pre-treatment units operate in the field which supply nearly half of company hydrocarbon output.
