The Reindeer Breeders’ Day was celebrated in the village of Gyda of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous okrug. The holiday in Gyda finalized the annual gathering of the indigenous inhabitants of the Tazovsky tundra.

The reindeer breeders of the villages of Samburg, Nyda, Tazovsky and Antipayuta had celebrated their professional holiday before. The celebrations in Gyda were organized according to the traditional scenario – official opening, keynote speeches, competitions in national kinds of sport and awarding of winners. What was not traditional is that a few guests came to this event. «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg» delegation arrived at Gyda in full force and not empty-handed.

- «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg» is actively involved in all the events, held in the area where the Company operates, - Alexander Sergienko, engineer of the social development division of «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg», points out. – We have delivered many presents to the Reindeer Breeders’ Day in Gyda. The grand prize, snowmobile «Rys» (Bobcat), has been awarded to the winner of the reindeer sledges races. Other winners have been presented with the things which will be useful for tundra inhabitants in their households.

Background:

«Gazprom dobycha Yamburg» has been already collaborating with the authorities of the Tazovsky region for over fifteen years. The Company allocated 40 mln rubles to the social support of its inhabitants the previous year. In 2009 the charity support timed to the Reindeer Breeders' and Fisherman Days for the inhabitants of the sponsored regions will be preserved in the same amount by the decision of director general of the Company Oleg Andreev.
