On July 25 at 14:14 local time Gazprom dobycha Yamburg reached a remarkable milestone, the company produced 4 trillion cubic meters of gas.

The history of production of four trillion cubic meters of gas began on September 22, 1986 at 1:30 a.m. Moscow time, when the first commercial gas was fed from the Yamburgskoye oil gas condensate field to the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia.

The field has been extensively developed: besides the Yamburgskaya area, the Aneryakhinskaya and Kharvutinskaya areas have been put on stream. 14 gas treatment plants and 15 workshops of booster compressor stations are currently in operation. During the field operation over 3, 5 trln cubic meters of gas has been fed to the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia, over 12 mln tons of gas condensate has been produced.

In 2001 the company started to develop the Zapolyarnoye oil gas condensate field that had become a factor for the further production growth of Gazprom and it strengthened the status of Russia as a global leading gas power. In October 2004 the Zapolyarnoye field was brought to the project capacity in 100 bcm per year – it is almost the fifth part of the total amount of gas produced by Gazprom Group.

New objectives of Gazprom dobycha Yamburg are the Valanginian deposits of the Zapolyarnoye field. Here the exploitation wells are already being drilled; hydrocarbon production facilities are under construction. In the near term two gas treatment units are scheduled to be commissioned with total capacity in 15 bcm per year that will enable to boost gas production in the Zapolyarnoye field up to 130 bcm per year.

In the mid term the fields of the Obskaya and Tazovskaya Bays, the Gydan Peninsula are scheduled to be developed. With the implementation of this strategic program the company will face the future positively.

Background:

Gazprom dobycha Yamburg is a 100% Gazprom subsidiary. The company produces over 40% of gas production of Gazprom Group and 34% of total gas production of Russia, has remaining hydrocarbon reserves, favorable investments prospects, and possesses unique technologies.

Gazprom dobycha Yamburg owns licenses for hydrocarbon production in three large fields:

- The Yamburgskoye oil gas condensate (being developed since 1986);

- The Zapolyarnoye oil gas condensate (being developed since 2001);

- The Tazovskoye oil gas condensate (being prepared for the development).

In 2007 the company obtained licenses for prospecting and hydrocarbon production in the area of the Yuzhno-Parusovoye and Severo-Parusovoye fields.

Moreover Gazprom dobycha Yamburg is an operator in the Parusovoye and Tazovsko-Zapolyarnoye licensed sites of ОАО Gazprom.
