"Gazprom dobycha Yamburg" / Social responsibility / Sport

Sport and physical culture are priority lines of social policy of «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg». To involve employees in an active way of life different kinds and forms of competitions are organized. They are Spartakiads among departments, dormitories, married couples, championships, tournaments and other contests.

Well-equipped sport complexes with modern equipment, billiard saloons, a swimming –pool function in Yamburg and Novozapolyarny. The company employees attend sections of swimming, football, athletic gymnastics, table and big tennis, health groups. Over 7000 employees of the gas producing company take part in different sport events every year.

At present «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg» is implementing a large project – constructing a sport complex in Novy Urengoy. It is going to be an architectural and sport attraction of the town. The complex has a capacity of three thousand people per day. The sport complex facilities will include a hall for team sports (football, volley-ball, basketball), two tennis courts, an aerobics hall, a table tennis hall, small and big swimming-pools, a shooting range for six positions, a ski rental center, a billiard saloon and a fitness-bar.

Individual and team achievements of our employees is the result of systematic and comprehensive work of the Company, aimed at the development of physical and sport culture among multi thousand collective of « Gazprom dobycha Yamburg ».

Kyokushinkai karate

The history of this kind of karate goes back to the end of the forties of the last century. Its founder was Masutatsu Oyama, Korean Japanese.  Kyokushinkai was officially recognized as a kind of martial arts in the USSR in 1989, though the first section appeared in Moscow in 1973. There are a good few of « Gazprom dobycha Yamburg » employees who go in for this kind of sport professionally.

2001 year.

The Kyokushinkai karate Cup of Russia was held in Yamburg. A. Ibragimov, employee of the security service, became the absolute champion in heavy weight.

2004 year.

The IFK Kyokushinkai karate World Cup was again held in the shift settlement of the Company. Around 70 fighters from Great Britain, Belgium, Belorussia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia and Russia arrived at Yamburg. The Company sportsmen became the leaders of the tournament. IFK president Steve Arneil and Alexander Tanyushkin, founder of Russian Kyokushinkai karate Federation, supported Oleg Andreev’s initiative to hold the Open International Yamburg Cup once in two years.

2005 year.

The third Kyokushinkai karate IFK World Championship was held in London. Anzor Shikhabakhov, Security Service employee of the Company, participated as a member of national team of Russia. He fought in the most prestigious weight category - over 80 kg, along with thirty two strongest karatekas of the world. Anzor gained the third place.

Our team conquered three first places in each weight category and one third place in heavy weight in the International tournament Cup of Valencia in Spain.

In Warsaw the strongest master of Europe in IKO Matsushima Kyokushinkai karate was determined. Alexander Ibragimov became the absolute winner of the European championship.

2006 year.

It was the first year to hold the Yamburg Cup.

Oleg Andreev was confirmed in the post of the president of Kyokushinkai karate federation of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous okrug.

2007 year.

«Gazprom dobycha Yamburg » team took the first place in the Open IKO Matsushima Kyokushinkai karate championship of Russia held in Novosibirsk. Umar Tokhtabayev became the first prize winner in absolute weight category among juniors.

Kyokushinkai karate championship of Russia in absolute weight category was held in Moscow. The winner of the tournament became Anzor Shikhabakhov.

«Gazprom dobycha Yamburg » employees became the winners of the Open Oyama Cup – 2007 in Holland. They were Alexander Afanasyev (in weight category up to 70 kg) and Alexander Ibragimov (over 80 kg.)

Alexander Karshageev conquered the bronze medal in the V (IKO) Open Kyokushinkai karate Matsushima championship of Europe. Andrey Borisov became the second-prize winner in weight category up to 80 kg. Two company employees climbed the victory stand in weight category up to 70 kg: Evgeny Solomennikov won the second place and Alexander Afanasyev the first place respectively.

2008 year.

In St. Petersburg IKO Matsushima Kyokushinkai karate championship of Russia was held. «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg » sportsmen won 9 out of 6 prizes: three- gold medals, two – silver and one bronze medal.

«Gazprom dobycha Yamburg » employees conquered the first and second places in all the weight categories in the Second regular open kumite Kyokushinkai “The Yamburg Cup-Yamal 2008”. Alexander Ibragimov was awarded For Victory in Tamashiwari trophy, he broke 14 boards.

In 2008 Alexander Ibragimov, «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg » employee, became the third place winner in super-heavy weight category (over 90 kg.) in the II Kyokushinkai karate championship of Europe held in Moscow.

Snowmobile sport

The pride of the Company are the achievements of snowmobile sportsmen. STK "Yamburg" is a many-times winner of the country in snowmobile sport. Team leader Maxim Shevchenko holds the title of the winner of individual championship of Russia. Vladimir Ushakov, three-time champion of Russia in 1999-2001, and Yury Sokol, champion of Russia in 1999, are Yamburg snowmobilers.

2004 year.

Maxim Shevchenko became the champion of Russia in the Cup of Russia in open class. Sport-technical section «Yamburg» won in the team championship.

2005 year.

Maxim Shevchenko conquered the silver prize in the tough struggle in the prestigious international snowmobile competitions Cup of Iceland. Another Yamburg snowmobiler Vladimir Ushakov came the fourth.

2006 year.

Vladimir Ushakov, sportsman from «Gazprom dobycha Yamburg», won in Royal snowmobile races in Finland.

Vladimir Ushakov became the first place winner in the sprint cross championship of Russia. Dmitry Tsukov, Vadim Trotsai, Alexander Shalnov were among ten best snowmobilers.

Maxim Shevchenko won the first place and Vladimir Ushakov the second one respectively in the Cup of Russia. STK "Yamburg" team became also the winner of the competition.

The absolute champion of the 18 th championship of Russia in snowmobile sport became Vladimir Ushakov.  Three-time champion of Russia Maxim Shevchenko won the silver prize.

STK "Yamburg" team conquered 6 medals out 9 in snowmobile championship dedicated to the memory of Alexander Ushakov.

2007 year.

STK "Yamburg" was the first among juniors in open class in the snowmobile championship races.

2008 year.

Snowmobilers of sport-technical club "Yamburg" conquered one gold and two bronze medals In the super final of snowmobiling championship of Russia.

Aquabike

Aqua bike is a kind of water-motor sport, races on aqua bikes (wave runners). Aqua bike competitions in Russia have been held only since 1998. STK «Yamburg»,a repeated champion in snowmobile sport, decided to take up also this kind of sport.

2005 year.

STK «Yamburg» took part in aqua bike championship of Russia for the first time having become the silver prize winner.

2007 year.

«Gazprom dobycha Yamburg» team became the third place winner in  IVaquabike championship of Russia.

2008 year.

«Gazprom dobycha Yamburg» aquabikers became the winners in the Cup of Russia in water-motor sport «aquabike» class. Master of sport Evgeny Sklyarov won in the individual championship.
